The famous author and inspirational speaker John C Maxwell wrote, “A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way,” and this is a great description for Trinity Manor’s new administrator, John Van Hook. Since his first day on May 1, 2014, John has been impacting many positive changes with his hands-on approach and the residents, family members and long-time staff couldn’t be happier!
John’s leadership style has been both welcomed and embraced by the staff at Trinity Manor.
“John is always out of his office and making rounds. He has high expectations for himself and for all of us. His commitment to excellence in the care and services we provide is both appreciated and respected”
Skilled nursing is certainly not a new endeavor for this seasoned professional. John started working in health care right after high school when he was hired to work with disabled adults in an employment training center. After relocating to Kansas in 1985, John worked in long term care as a nursing assistant, medication aid, restorative aid, housekeeper, social services director, activities director, dietary manager, and office manager assistant while pursuing his Adult Care Home Administrator’s license. “Each day I think about the excellent advice I was given early in my career by a state health inspector. He told me to always do the right thing for your residents and you will always be in compliance with all regulatory requirements” said John
“John is always out of his office and making rounds. He has high expectations for himself and for all of us. His commitment to excellence in the care and services we provide is both appreciated and respected” said one department director. The Trinity Manor team has been working on many renovation projects and are gearing up for an exciting refurbishment plan that will be occurring in the coming months. The aesthetic improvement plan is second on John’s list of priorities as he and the team continue to focus on customer service. John explained that his philosophy is not complex – “Simply treat others better than you would like to be treated,” said John. “I enjoy helping others and each day offers many small rewards that keep me excited about what I am doing.”
John is a Licensed Nursing Facility Administrator and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. He is a widower and does not have any children. John enjoys traveling to both new destinations, and to revisit old favorites. He likes to read psychological (non-fiction) thrillers and is happy to be going to work each day.
